Estimate, not a quote.
Carriers and forwarders set their own divisors, rounding and minimums. Use these figures to sense-check and plan, then confirm with whoever is moving your goods.

How the maths works
- Volume per carton = length × width × height. Total CBM = sum of (carton volume × quantity) ÷ 1,000,000 (in cm³).
- Volumetric weight (kg) = total volume in cm³ ÷ divisor.
- Chargeable weight = whichever is higher of actual weight and volumetric weight, then rounded up, then any minimum applied.
- Sea LCL is usually charged per revenue tonne: the greater of CBM and tonnes. A divisor of 1000 gives the same answer (1 CBM = 1000 kg).
- Rounding is applied once to the whole shipment. Some carriers round each piece or each dimension first, which can give a slightly higher figure.
- Inches convert at 2.54 cm, pounds at 0.45359237 kg.
